Season of Cotswold Fruitfulness Autumn 2025

October 2025.

Not quite the day for sitting on the bench but rather take shelter under a tree and watch the weather roll in along the Evenlode Valley.  It is one of those walks where their dog entertains herself by pouncing on the freshly fallen piles of leaves and you need a coat on; but the big debate is hood up or hood down?

Me, I tend to be hood down, as I like to feel the drizzly on my face but this morning as I turned for home it was getting to be a hood up moment.

As well as getting the coat out, the last few days have also been the time to get the welly boots out.    But as usual I find a split across the toes of one of the boots. So a bit of judicial use of some duck tape and some gentle hints for Christmas.  It feels hardly any time that my Christmas list consisted  of Airfix models, the latest action man uniform and a pair of football socks!!

So this is certainly the season of change, most of the crops are now in, the local potatoes where picked up last week, the fields have now been scarified and ploughed and the sheep are back into the field opposite the Memorial Hall.  But looking at the up coming Memorial Hall bookings, we still have our senior Christmas lunch booked which is a really nice afternoon and start to the festive period.  Even if the majority of the people who prepare and serve the meal meet the criteria to attend and be waited on themselves!

So for a few hours I will continue to think on all the changes since I were a lad and then have another coffee and get on with the bank reconciliation and doing the accounts using this new fangled inter web thing.
